After 12 months, the participatory project Reallabor Hagenmarkt will come to an end with a big closing event on Saturday 16 July. Under the title "Wir für Braunschweig" (We for Braunschweig), various voluntary initiatives and associations will present themselves on the square for the last time with music and cool drinks and invite people to join in.
In June 2021, the TU Braunschweig invited citizens to the Hagenmarkt for the first time with a series of lectures to jointly address social and scientific topics in various event formats. Led by the three institutes Gtas, IAK and IBEA of the Department of Architecture, a three-week programme followed that aroused curiosity in many places and brought the square back into the awareness of citizens. From August onwards, citizens were increasingly involved in the project and the Reallabor became a place where people could actively shape the city. Accompanied by the Sandbox of the TU Braunschweig and the Leibniz Science Campus Postdigital Participation, the Hagenmarkt has since been regularly enlivened by workshops, discussion formats, urban gardening activities and markets in cooperation with various associations and initiatives. With one laughing eye and one crying eye, the Reallabor is now saying goodbye to Hagenmarkt and once again invites all citizens to celebrate together, to get active and to perceive the place in all its diversity.
On 16 july from 1 pm, the marketplace "Wir für Braunschweig" (We for Braunschweig) will take place to mark the occasion. Accompanied by music and cool drinks, associations such as Transition Town, Schrill e.V., Foodsharing and many others invite you to find out about opportunities for active participation in city life. Workshops such as screen printing, making herbal salt and dyeing textiles with natural ingredients are also on the varied daily schedule. On stage, musicians HansHeinPeterGeorgFritz, Timi Ocean and Phil Hutzon will perform singer-songwriters and trap beats before the Laut Klub offers a showcase with DJs Andre Victor, M.Dynamite and Devils Ivy for warm dancing from 4 pm. At 10 p.m., the music will officially bring the Rellabor Hagenmarkt project to an end. If you feel like staying longer, you can do so at Laut Klub, which opens its doors at 11 p.m. for the Summer Closing and says goodbye to the citizens with a big last party for the rest of the summer.
