Final event at Reallabor Hagenmarkt

Inga Stang

The participatory project 'Reallabor Hagenmarkt' will conclude after 12 months, with a big closing event on Saturday 16 July. Under the title "Wir für Braunschweig" (We for Braunschweig), various voluntary initiatives and associations will be present at stands in the square for the last time; there will be music and cold drinks and everyone is invited to join in.

In June 2021, the TU Braunschweig invited citizens to the Hagenmarkt for the first time with a series of lectures to jointly address social and scientific topics in various event formats. Led by the three institutes in the Department of Architecture, Gtas, IAK and IBEA , a three-week programme followed that aroused much interest and reaquainted many members of the public with this city square. From August onwards, citizens were increasingly involved in the project and the Reallabor became a place where people could actively shape the city. Accompanied by teams from the TU Braunschweig's Sandbox and the Leibniz Science Campus Postdigital Participation, the Hagenmarkt has since been regularly animated by workshops, discussion formats, urban gardening activities and markets, held in cooperation with various associations and initiatives. With a mixture of happiness and sadness, the Reallabor is now saying goodbye to Hagenmarkt and once again invites all citizens to celebrate together, to get active and to contemplate the space in all its diversity.

On 16 July from 1 pm, associations such as Transition Town, Schrill e.V., Foodsharing and many others will be on the marketplace to hold the 'Wir für Braunschweig' (We for Braunschweig) event. Accompanied by music and cold drinks, they invite you to find out about opportunities for active participation in city life. The vaied events over the day will include workshops offering activities such as screen printing, making herbal salt and dyeing textiles with natural ingredients. On stage, musicians HansHeinPeterGeorgFritz, Timi Ocean and Phil Hutzon will perform before the Laut Klub takes to the stage from 4pm with sets from DJs Andre Victor, M.Dynamite and Devils Ivy . The music will finsih at 10 pm,  officially bringing the Rellabor Hagenmarkt project to an end. If you feel like staying longer, you can do so at the Laut Klub, which opens its doors at 11 pm for the Summer Closing party, its last big party of the summer.
