From 2 to 5 June 2025, the annual Georg Arnhold International Summer Conference (GAISC) took place at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | Georg Eckert Institute in Braunschweig, in partnership with the Leibniz ScienceCampus – Postdigital Participation. This year’s theme was "The Quest for Peace and Equality under the Postdigital Condition". The conference focused on current developments and challenges in the use of digital technologies in educational contexts, particularly under conditions of social crises and inequalities.

The conference highlighted a wide range of international perspectives on how education is shaped, challenged, and reflected upon in the postdigital age. Contributions from research and practice addressed issues of justice, participation, and peace in the context of digital transformations.

Speakers included, among others, Petar Jandrić (Zagreb University of Applied Sciences), who spoke on the decolonisation of educational technologies, and Miglė Bareikytė (European University Viadrina), who addressed experiences of war and their (non-)instrumentalisation. Katie Murphy from the International Rescue Committee (USA) presented approaches to educational work in crisis contexts, while Martin Doll (University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf, Germany) discussed the global challenges posed by artificial intelligence.

The conference provided a space for exchange, international networking, and critical reflection – and clearly demonstrated how central education remains as a field of social action in postdigital times.
