Philipp Deny joined the Media Transformation department of the Georg Eckert Institute in January 2020 as a PhD researcher in the Leibniz ScienceCampus – Postdigital Participation – Braunschweig. His dissertation is on "Media Performance and Reflexivity: From Media Theory to Educational Practice".

He studied media studies and fine arts at the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK), focusing on cultural studies, pop culture and practices, digital media and political participation. During his time at the HBK he was also a research student in the DFG-Graduate School „Das fotografische Dispositiv“ (The Photographic Dispositif). Before joining the GEI, he worked as a freelance media-educator.
