Patterns of participation in cooperatively designed digital learning scenarios on the topic of sustainability (PaKoDiNa)

Corinne Kutz

The research project "Patterns of participation in cooperatively designed digital learning scenarios on the topic of sustainability (PaKoDiNa)" aims to investigate patterns of verbal participation in co-constructive learning processes in digital learning scenarios on the topic of sustainability. When cooperative forms of learning are realized in school educational contexts, the type and intensity of participation often depend on the prior knowledge and peer status of the learners (e.g. Troll, Heil, Pietsch, & Besser, 2022). One aim of participatory learning scenarios with digital media in out-of-school settings is to break down these patterns (e.g. Bock & Wagener-Böck, 2021). Within the framework of a case study, the research project aims to analyze patterns of participation in verbal negotiation processes through a network-analytical approach. For this purpose, learning phases of several learning groups will be videotaped and evaluated both in the school setting and in the digital lab "The Basement". Subsequently, it will be discussed together with the learners whether and which specific changes to learning environments can contribute to a more balanced distribution of learning opportunities. These participatory negotiation processes will also be videotaped and analyzed with regard to implications for the design of cooperative learning in the context of post-digitality at the level of teaching and learning as well as at the institutional level of schools.
