PRivacy management for health apps along the patient journey (PRiMA)"

Mingwei Lim

Healthcare and nursing are increasingly supported by IT applications. Informed consent is required from patients in order to process and use the data. This privacy management is particularly important as it involves sensitive health data. Particularly in the case of prolonged app use, there may be a need to be able to revoke or modify consent once given at a later date. This is increasingly important in the context of changing requirements over the course of an illness or its treatment (patient journey).

In the joint project "PRivacy management for health apps along the patient journey (PRiMA)", the research team is firstly investigating the challenges that arise when using health apps, digital health and care applications with regard to consent, privacy requirements and app design (privacy by design). Subsequently, a concept for privacy management as well as so-called "privacy patterns" for product managers and developers of digital health applications will be designed, developed and validated.

In order to ensure the transferability of the solutions, typical "consent situations" will be analysed within the framework of scenarios. They include consent to the processing of both administrative and health data.
